Automated External Defibrillators - AEDs
An AED is a lightweight, portable device used to deliver a shock through the chest to the heart of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. SCA is the sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. Electrical therapy from the AED can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume. This is known as defibrillation.
With simple audio and visual commands, AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layperson. We also recommend scheduling CPR AED training to become familiar with your device and be ready to save a life.
