UPDATED: INTERIM GUIDANCE ON CARD EXTENSIONS DURING COVID-19 OUTBREAK

The American Heart Association has issued an updated statement addressing renewal of Provider Cards and extensions during the COVID-19 outbreak. This guidance supersedes the guidance outlined in the March 13, 2020 document. In summary:

For AHA Provider cards expiring beginning in March 2020:
  • ​All AHA Provider cards will be valid for 120 days beyond their recommended renewal date.

AHA Blended Learning
A combination of AHA Online + LSS Hands-On. Step 1 - Online courses developed using the most current emergency cardiovascular care science from the American Heart Association. Step 2 - Students complete hands-on sessions for courses requiring CPR and other psychomotor skills at Life Safety Solutions, an AHA Training Center.

Step 1 – AHA online course - Select the online course you need from the American Heart Association course links below. The online course is taken at your own pace and allows you to conveniently log-in wherever you have access to an internet connection. This online course is payable to AHA during the online course registration. The fee varies depending on the AHA online course selected.

Step 2 – Pass Hands-On Session at our office – Once you have completed the AHA online course, call us to schedule a Hands-On Session. This session is by appointment-only and must be completed in our Palm City office. This is your time with our awesome AHA Instructor to practice the skills and complete the evaluation session.

The Hands-on Skills session is payable to Life Safety Solutions. Our fee for the Skills session at our office:
  • BLS Provider - $40.00
  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED - $60*
  • Heartsaver CPR AED - $50*
*Due to a recent rate increase by AHA for Heartsaver cards, we have had to adjust our pricing for the Heartsaver skills sessions.
NOTE:  WE ONLY ACCEPT ONLINE COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATES FROM AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION ONLINE COURSES (SEE COURSE LINKS AND SAMPLE CERTIFICATE BELOW).  BEWARE OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS/SITES PROMISING AHA CARDS FOR AN ONLINE COURSE THAT IS NOT DIRECTLY THROUGH AHA'S ONLINE LEARNING SITE: ELEARNING.HEART.ORG. PLEASE CALL BEFORE YOU PURCHASE AN ONLINE COURSE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
Select, register, and pay for the AHA online (Step 1) course you need. Life Safety Solutions offers Hands-On Session (Step 2) for the following courses:

BLS - Basic Life Support For healthcare professionals requiring CPR certification. This course may be used for initial or renewal BLS Course completion. Upon successful completion of the online course and the hands-on skills session, the new ​AHA BLS Provider card will be issued. NOTE: This course replaced the BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part 1 (90-1403).

Heartsaver Courses - Lay Rescuer For anyone with limited or no medical training who needs an AHA course completion card for their employer or job specialty. (NOT for medical professionals, or those
needing certification to enroll in medical training such as EMT school.)
  1. Complete the online course, and print your Certificate of Completion.

  2. Call our office to schedule an appointment for the Hands-on Session.

  3. You must bring your 'Certificate of Completion' when you come for your hands-on skills appointment. Cash or check payment for skills session due upon arrival.

  4. Upon successful completion of your Hands-On practice and evaluation session, you will be issued the appropriate AHA completion card/or eCard notification with a 2-year recommended renewal date. (eCard notification will be issued for Heartsaver courses instead of printed card. Participant will receive email with instructions on how to "claim" their eCard.)
Note: Hands-On Session should be scheduled as soon as possible upon completion of online training. Students have online access to all information in the course for 2 years after first activating their online course.
